about

Here is a collection of leftover songs that haven't made it out to the world yet. Virgin Shores has always been a solo project for me. At first, it was just me writing songs at home and recording them on my own, like the beginning of a lot of bands. Then I called my friend Adrian and said, "hey can you please come play drums on this song so I don't have to".... and he said, "yeah but I really don't want to be in a full time band or anything" and I was like "yeah that's cool I understand".... this was probably 2009 or 2010.

Anyway, a few months later, or whatever it was, I was at Adrian's apartment and he had some digital synth sounds / rough sketches that he was messing with on his computer... and he let me turn a few of them into full songs, which was fun for me. "The Flood", "Invasion (the original version)", and "Water" are what came out of those collaborations. They were the first songs we ever recorded as a "band" at Stinson Studios w/ Isaac Pena (engineering, mixing) before we had the rehearsal space at Band Co Op, where I ended up recording the first Mini LP.

After these first song attempts, I focused on making the mini LP more punk, because I didn't want to be SO poppy. Even though few would probably describe the mini LP as punk - it has punk moments - more punk than these songs for sure.

"Kiss in the Sun" is a B Side from the Mini LP.
"Let it Go" is one of the earlier songs I recorded at my house by myself. -- 2010 or thereabouts. This is a rare song that I actually play drums on.
"Why Can't I" is from that same time.
